Mike Krüger
Born on the 14th December in Ulm
Actor, Singer, Presenter and Comedian

“I play chess, because skill and not chance determine victory or defeat.”

Even during his architecture studies, Mike Krüger was able to make the audience laugh with his one-man show entitled ‘Mein Gott, Walther’ in Hamburg’s ‘Danny’s Pan’. The record with the same name appeared in 1975 and was a hit. Krüger received 2 golden gramophones for around 660,000 records and on his tour of Germany he delighted over 60,000 people. More hits followed with ‘Der Nippel’ going to the top of the German and Austrian charts.

Even then, behind the stage, it was there – his chess game. “Regardless of whether I am performing to an audience, presenting a TV show or on a film set, I have to be able to react quickly and flexibly in new situations. It is similar with chess. From one position to another, the situation can entirely change and these surprises have to be mastered – for me, this is the particular fascination of the game as, in chess, it is also important to correctly assess the different pieces. In chess, as on a film set, the playing skill decides, not chance” Mike Krüger says.

The distinctive ‘Supernase’ films were a success with the public. From 1982, Krüger made films together with Thomas Gottschalk and thereafter had the leading roles in a series of comedies. On TV, the all-rounder has impressed with numerous programmes since 1986; for example as presenter of ‘Vier gegen Willi’, the ‘Mike Krüger Show’ or as the permanent member of a team in Europe’s most successful comedy show ‘7 Tage – 7 Köpfe’. The whole Friday evening programme’s team was awarded the Goldenen Löwen as well as the Bambi.
