"Chess Day" 2007 - City duel on August 25

Dresden, 04/06/2007
The German Chess Federation will once again propose the traditional "Chess Day" this year. Therefore, the federation is looking for clubs and groups of chess players for the last weekend in August, in order to enthuse as many people as possible with the game of chess.

On "Chess Day" chess clubs will compete nationwide as representatives for their municipalities and communes. Being participants of the competition "A country plays chess - on Chess Day" they have the chance to win money prices. The more people do participate in the clubs activity the higher the chances of winning are.

In the choice of the activity there are hardly any limitations. Possible are, for example, simultaneous chess tournaments, chess in public pools or in connection with a rally through the city. And teamwork will pay off as well - thus, different clubs of the same city are allowed to organize a common activity as well.

"Chess Day" will take place Saturday, August 25, from 10 am to 6 pm. However, clubs will be offered the opportunity to arrange their activities on the following day as well. Registration for participation will be accepted by the German Chess Federation via this form until August 10, 2007. Further information can be obtained under +49 30 3000780 as well as under info@schachbund.de.
