German Railways to offer special ticket for Chess Olympiad 2008

Dresden, 21/05/2008

Deutsche Bahn offers reduced fare tickets for visitors of the Chess Olympiad
Throughout the whole country for only 89,- Euro round trip

Chess fans can now look forward to a cheap and comfortable visit of the Chess Olympiad in Dresden. The Deutsche Bahn (German Railways enterprise) provides a special ticket for the duration of the Chess Olympiad from 10 – 27 November 2008, valid for a German wide round trip.

For only 89,- Euro (1st class 129,- Euro) tickets can be obtained by calling the DB hotline +49 (0)1805 31 11 53 to make reservations. All trains of the DB network are included in the offer and may be used at any time from any station, prices remaining the same. Thus, for instance, savings for a round trip from/to Frankfurt/Main main station will be as much as 75,- Euro compared to the regular fare.

The incumbent first mayor of Dresden, Dr. Lutz Vogel, feels particularly delighted about this approach towards the organizers of the Dresden Olympiad by the corporation: “Now we can submit an even more attractive offering to Germany’s chess players, who can well combine a tourist trip to Dresden in an ideal way with a visit of the Olympiad boards of the elite” he stated.

And there are further interesting news to tell by the Organizing Office in the city of Dresden. After the success of the partner schools project, the soon to start ‘Roadshow’ through Saxony and the successful premiere of the youth dance project ‘Chess Fever’ the DB now joins the line-up of the bearers of great tidings.
