Chess Olympiad advertising nationwide with image poster

Dresden, 07/10/2008

On the occasion of the „Long Night of Sports“ on 27 September 2008 in the Dresden city center the new official image poster of the Chess Olympiad, which thanks to the Co-Sponsor Stroeer will be visible all over the country from Tuesday onwards, was presented to the public.

During the event opening mayor Winfried Lehmann, also president of the Chess Olympiad Organizing Committee, and Stroeer representative Jürgen Härtel revealed one of the 1900 poster. 100 of them alone will be placarded in Dresden.

In the picture, in the foreground of the fabulous Dresden Old Town scenery the eight-year old Tim Wagner plays chess under the Olympiad slogan „One game one language“. The motif shows Tim, who counts PE to his favorite subjects at scholl and who, besides chess, loves to play soccer, theater and dance, in a focused pose and displays the Arthur Schopenhauer quote „Every child is a genius, every genius is a child“.

The call for the image campaing by the Dresden organizers through the chess school Meng have followed dozens of interested kids and parents. Winner Tim loves the game so much that even shortly before his stage presentation on Saturday (27.09.2008) he participated in a chess tournament.

Stroeer, as Co-Sponsor of the Olympiad, is a great win for the tournament. The company markets more than 230 000 public advertising spaces all over Germany, for instance exclusively in 5700 train stations, and has 1100 employees. “Stroeer develops communication solutions for public places – from classical poster surfaces to advertisements in public waiting areas, on means of transportation and digital media”, explains regional sales manager Jürgen Härtel.
